WINDER PUBLIC LIBRARY
SUMMER READING PROGRAM

Child reading a book while sitting with a walrus.
Oceans of Possibilities

New this year!

Early Literacy Kits! Designed for children birth to 5, the Early Literacy Kit will become a year-round part of our programming. During the Summer Reading Program, our youngest readers will use their own special log to track the Early Literacy principles designed in a national program called Every Child Ready to Read. We have also designed a special kit to help caregivers at home.

Please let staff know if you have a pre-reader ages birth to 5!

Winder. Oceans of Possibilities. Read more!

The summer reading program encourages children and families to read all summer long, wherever your journeys take you! You can read books from the library or from home.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Children from 5 to age 18

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Pick up a paper log from your local library to start tracking  your reading. Prizes are earned by completing the required number of bubbles in the log!

1 Book = 1 bubble    OR    20 minutes of reading = bubble

Young children and pre-readers may want to count books, while chapter book readers may want to count time.

Prizes for Kids ages 5-12:

LEVEL 1—25 BUBBLES FILLED: Come dig in our pirate treasure chest for your prize and treat!

LEVEL 2—40 BUBBLES FILLED: Receive a summer reading backpack filled with goodies and a book.

Winder patrons will also be entered into a drawing to win a Family Membership to Zoo Atlanta

Anyone who reaches the highest level of our summer reading program will be entered to win our grand prize
