LIBRARY SERVICES

The City of Nicholson seeks customer-service-oriented applicants for a part-time Library Services position for 17 plus hours per week at the Nicholson Public Library. Starting pay $12.00 per hour. Library Services staff work some evenings and weekends.

 

Library Services positions are responsible for providing checkout, information, and support for library patrons of all ages. This includes providing reader’s advisory, computer assistance, shelving books, and other duties as assigned. This person is often the patron’s first contact for library service.

 

Qualified applicants will have public library or retail experience. High school diploma required, some college preferred. The City will consider other combinations of education and experience. Must be willing and able to get passport agent certified (at least 18, no convictions of crimes involving moral turpitude, and pass the exam) within the first 30 days of hire.

THE TOWN OF BRASELTON IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION:

LIBRARY ASSOCIATE

Part-time position to provide excellent public service in a very busy library working in a team-based environment. Routine tasks include shelving books and shifting materials, operating an automated circulation system, emptying overnight book return, checking materials in and out, monitoring patron and building security during assigned hours, responding to patron needs, educating patrons on eBook downloads, and other jobs as assigned. Assisting patrons with computer questions is a large portion of this job, so candidates must be comfortable with computer technologies on several platforms including but not limited to Windows, Microsoft programs, Kindle, and iPad.

 

Schedule will be up to 20 hours a week and may include Saturday and/or evening hours.

 

Requires a high school diploma or GED and one year of library or customer service experience. Must be able to work well with the public, pay attention to detail, complete tasks accurately, and have good communication skills. Must be able to lift and move bins of books up to 30 pounds, push book carts full of books, and stand for long periods of time.
